A diving event like no other, challenges, head to head competition, being pushed to your limits, if that is your idea of fun, then you want to take part in the Dive Trophy.
What is the Dive Trophy?
The Dive Trophy is Europe’s biggest diving event, the first ever event was in 2004. The goal? to find the “best scuba diver” in the German-speaking market.
There are three phases to qualify, starting with the point collection phase, moving on to the semi finals and ending with a week-long, action-filled, grand-finale.
The Three Phases
The point collection phase currently extends over the period from November 1st to September 30th of the respective Dive Trophy year. A diver can join at any time, regardless of their association. There is already a lot to win during the point collection phase: competitions with great non-cash prizes are regularly held on the Facebook fan page and in the Tauchen diving magazine. By the way: A diving magazine subscription and following the Dive Trophy Facebook and Instagram fan pages are rewarded with extra points.
The Semi-finals are held in autumn, the top 100 divers meet for a great diving showdown at an indoor dive center in Germany, everyone from the top 100 has the same chance of winning, and the participants must master different tasks and collect points. The ten divers with the most points from the semifinals qualify for the grand finals in Egypt.
For the finals, an exciting week of competition allows the finalists to give it their all again, and at the end, the Dive Trophy Champion is ceremonially crowned. The final has always been held at the Robinson Club Soma Bay. The sponsors take over the entire stay for the finalists: including flights, full board, and diving – an unforgettable experience with VIP status and exclusive Dive Trophy promotions. An accompanying person can be taken along at special rates.

The Challenges
The Dive Trophy challenges vary from year to year, but the concept remains the same, the contestants are judged on their fitness, breath-holding ability, swimming skills and most importantly diving skills, to top it off, these challenges put the candidate under stress, a big part is stress management.
Some of the main challenges from the previous years include an in-water parkour, underwater equipment exchange, rescue skills, a triathlon, static apnea, the final apnea puzzle and the much hated Heaven and Hell challenge (Himmel und Hölle) where contestants must remove and replace ALL of their equipment items, while maintaining perfect buoyancy.
